ANALYZING THE IMPACT OF REDUCING FOOD LOSSES OF RICE ON FOOD SECURITY IN BENIN

A substantial amount of rice grains is lost along the value chain, contributing to food insecurity among farming households in Benin. While losses are inevitable it imperative determine minimum acceptable loss for rice. This study aims quantify and its effect on security using Food Consumption Score (FCS) Linear model. The results show a positive low rate FCS. In addition, increases probability FCS by 82.4 overall farmers 83.7 efficient producers. Thus, reducing throughout chain maximum 10% would increase local market allow producers achieve security. recommends sensitizing stakeholders strategies or technologies reduce losses.
